What lessons are you learning now?

A picture taken inside Son of River City Billiards in Anchorage, Alaska.

Written in chalk, high on one of the walls in the 24-hr pool hall I frequented during high school was the quote: “A word is worth a coin. Silence is worth two.”

I feel lucky I learned at an early age the value of being quiet, respectful, observant, and letting others have space to do their thing.

I learned that understanding and growth are not things which have to happen in a room filled with people sitting at desks.

I also learned that “time wounds all heels.” Classic.
