Beyond the Day Job
I’ve given talks at the Blog Business Summit, W3C Technical Plenary, Refresh Boston, Refresh Portland, HybridConf Berlin, UX Hong Kong, Product Tank, Design Research Group, and User Research London.
I’ve been a guest on several podcasts including PushPull, Ctrl+Click, and Walk the Walk. I had my own podcast for a bit as well.
For its first 3 years, I was a contributing editor for User Experience Magazine published by the Usability Professionals’ Association (now UXPA).
I have a habit of building professional communities. I started an STC chapter. I ran Refresh Portland which offered an eclectic monthly speaker series highlighting expert voices on creative and technical topics as well as offering space for new voices to shine. I ran PDXHCD, which brought Portland’s human-centered discipline professionals together to learn and grow their careers.
I was a Certified Service Design Master Trainer with the Service Design Network from 2018 to 2021.
